What’s the Point of Human Origins?

We are excited to announce our support of the launch of the Southern Cape IONS Community Group (SCIONS) in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa on the 27th June 2019.

SCIONS has been setup to serve regional members and friends of the Institute of Noetic Sciences, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to research and education on consciousness, human potential, and personal and social transformation.

As an independent and self-organising Group,  SCIONS facilitates dialogue and experiences on cutting-edge consciousness topics that serve to deepen connectedness with nature, self and each other. It recognises that both traditional science and direct (‘noetic’ / ’inner’) knowing are valid ways of understanding the universe and what it means to be fully human. The group aims to bridge science, spirituality, creativity and community to foster greater compassion and insight.

For the inaugural SCIONS meeting next week in Plettenberg Bay, we will dialogue around a discussion led by Dr. Peter Nilssen.  Peter is a professional archaeologist most known for his collaborative research at Pinnacle Point which unearthed the world-famous discoveries contributing to the unfolding story of humanity’s origins.

Now, however, it is the future of our species that holds Peter’s attention. Using the archaeological record as a lens to examine the state of humanity through time, Peter discusses the drivers of human behaviour and how we have shifted from a thriving to a (barely) surviving species.  Beliefs and knowledge systems are key to this unfolding drama of our time.  At the core lies connection, coherence and belonging as vital ingredients in shifting consciousness.

So come join us for what promises to be a fascinating evening. We welcome people with an open curious mind and genuine interest in participating in dialogues that explore pathways for personal growth and eco-social connection.
