We facilitate the Southern Cape IONS Community Group (SCIONS) as a voluntary independent association recognised by the Institute of Noetic Sciences. This was the first IONS Community Group established on the continent of Africa.

A ‘scion’ is a descendant or heir, or an offshoot or twig used when grafting plants. The word originates from the Old French sion, cion meaning “descendant; shoot, twig; offspring” and that is exactly how we see SCIONS‘ relationship with IONS.

SCIONS facilitates dialogue and experiences on cutting-edge consciousness topics that serve to deepen connectedness with nature, self and each other. It recognises that both traditional science and direct (‘noetic’ / ’inner’) knowing are valid ways of understanding the universe and what it means to be fully human. SCIONS seeks to bridge science, spirituality, creativity and community to foster greater compassion and insight.

We aim to create a safe and supportive vessel for exploring noetic topics and further our community engagement through formal and informal gatherings, such as dinners and dialogues, guest speakers, nature outings, and intentional circles.
